Position Overview:

The Senior Architectural Technologist may work independently or provide technical assistance to Project Managers or Senior Staff to conduct research, prepare drawings, architectural models and specifications, and manage projects.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Adherence to corporate standards and policy.
  • Produce, analyze and advise on detailed design specifications for certain projects and assist the Project Manager or Senior Management with day-to-day architectural activities on projects.
  • Assist during the collaboration phase with clients and users. Involves assessing and documenting requirements and assisting in finalizing the project brief.
  • Assist in the development of architectural designs by preparing and presenting architectural proposals using computer-aided design and traditional methods.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other project team members, ensuring documents are accurate, well detailed, and as clear as possible.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff.
  • Perform technical reviews, edit drawings and coordinate technical documents with consulting engineers.
  • Research and recommend solutions to architectural document challenges (including conflicts, interferences and errors/omissions).
  • Liaise directly with municipal authorities (e.g. planning, building, fire, health) to conduct research and compile data regarding by-laws, municipal restrictions, submission and other regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze various building codes and by-laws and ensure compliance with building codes, by-laws, space requirements, site requirements and other technical documents and reports.
  • Advise on environmental and regulatory legal requirements affecting the project. Involves producing documentation for statutory and local approval authorities as required.
  • Prepare technical drawings and sketches based on schematics and mark-ups using various drafting technologies to support construction work as required.
  • Prepare contract and bidding documents.
  • Utilize a variety of software including but not limited to AutoCAD, Revit, ADOBE, Photoshop, Sketch-up, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint and others as may be required to perform duties.
  • Coordinating with architectural, mechanical and structural Revit models and or cad documents.
  • Model existing buildings in Revit using DWG and PDF drawings, including both architectural and structural elements.
  • Liaise with the team and professional consultants to assess what surveys are required before work commences. Involves ensuring surveys are completed appropriately and fed into the project.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Diploma/degree from accredited College or University in Architectural Technology.
  • Member of an accredited Professional Association (preferred).
  • LEED accreditation (preferred)
  • 7-10 years of related experience in an architectural firm or associated industry performing similar or like duties.
  • 3-5 years Revit (BIM) experience.
